1 So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.
2 And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death.
Romans 8:1-2 (NLT)
Those who belong to Christ no longer fall under condemnation. “No longer” means at one point I must have been condemned right? But why?
Well, the bible teaches us that every person ultimately came from two people, Adam & Eve. And that sin was passed on to each one of us, thanks to Mr. Adam.
The bible is so clear on this and John 3:17 proves to us that God is not out to condemn us, that would be a waste of His time because were already condemned! So no He’s not out to condemn you, but adopt you! Once we understand how sin was passed on to us, then we begin to understand that we start out in this life already condemned. Again you have Mr. and Mrs Adam to thank for that.
So what did the Lord do about it? Instead of leaving us condemned, He came up with a powerful plan to reverse the curse and it’s called adoption.
And the more folks I talk too about this crazy adoption option, the more I realize that many of them didn’t even know this next verse was in the bible. Listen to verse, it’s one of my all time favorites!
God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.
Ephesians 1:5 (NLT)
Jesus, who is God, came to earth in the flesh of a man and was tempted by Satan for forty days in the desert. But why and for what reason? It was an attempt to get Jesus to sin. Just like Adam and Eve were tempted and the rest of us as well for that matter, Jesus was tempted too. But, Jesus did something nobody else ever had before, He remained sinless under intense temptation. Yup, Satan failed to get Jesus to sin.
Now what do you have? Well, you have a first. For the first time in history, a tempted, yet sinless person walked upon the earth. Then what happened? God condemned Him to death on a cross. And thank God He did, because it satisfied the Lord and it also satisfied the requirements of the law pertaining to sin and death. A death has always been required for any sin to be forgiven and it has to be sinless or blameless. A death was required to reverse that old law so you and I could be truly forgiven. Jesus accepted that challenge, took on the devil, endured temptation and remained sinless!
Sure Satan won that day when Adam sinned, but he took a beating the day Jesus rose from the grave! Sadly though he still wins everyday, when someone rejects this truth. Most people feel they can work off their own sinfulness with a few good deeds here and there. Nothing could be further from the truth, first of all something has to die and it has to be sinless for anyone to be truly forgiven. No good deeds will ever be able to do that and that’s what the bible says in Ephesians 2:8-10
You see God’s plan is to adopt us, He would rather adopt you then lose you. How does He do it? Remember something has to die for your sin and it has to be sinless, there is only one person who could do that for you and that’s Jesus Christ!
So if you understand that, then there is only one thing left to do, know God not just as a God, but as a Father. This is something only you can do. The bible is clear, God will not force you do to this. He will leave it up to you, it’s your option. If God forced you to become His child, then you’d be more like a robot. This has to be your choice. So if your ready to know God as a Dad you have to exercise the adoption option.
I call it the crazy adoption option because I can’t get over the fact that God has put all His effort, resources and His very own Son on the cross so He could adopt you and me! So if your ready and if you believe, then here is a prayer will help you become forgiven, adopted and on your way to experiencing God as a Dad.
“Lord, forgive me for my sin. Thank You for dying for me. Please come into my life today, I now receive You as my Lord and my Savior. Please adopt me as Your very own child! And teach me Lord how to enjoy You as a Dad from this day forward! Amen.”
That’s it and welcome to the family!
