What's the one of the first things a police officer does when he or she encounters a crime scene?
Usually they would get on the radio and ask for an I.D. man. In other words they would ask the dispatch center to send a CSI (Crime Scene Investigator) to their location. Another name for a CSI detective is an I.D. man. I.D. men identify evidence at crime scenes and then they proceed to collect the evidence in hopes that it'll eventually lead them to a suspect. I've said those same words many times when I came upon crimes scenes as a State Trooper, "I need I.D." And would often hear back, "I.D. notified and en route." Did you know you're an I.D. man? You sure are, that is if you know Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior. You see the Christian has a unique relationship with the God of this universe. Because of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ we get to know God, not just as a God, but as a Father! Basically, the means we have a license to pray! We can actually call out to our heavenly Father and bring change into our own lives, the lives of others, our neighborhoods, and yes even our world! What does changing things have to do with being an I.D. man? Well, let's just say you have more power to change things than you may have realized. Prayer is a gift from God that He freely gives to His adopted children (Ephesians 1:5). You have the distinct privilege to be able to identify (I.D.) things upon this earth that are not God's will, and instead of wishing they'd change, or complaining about them you, the Christian, can actually be the vehicle, or the cause of that change! Let me give you an example, one time a buddy approached me with a heavy heart. His wife was under a lot of stress due to a robber on the loose in their neighborhood. The suspected robber was breaking into homes and the local police were unable to catch him, while at the same time this stay at home mom was scared that their home might be the next one. Based on what my friend had told me I knew one thing, that it wasn't God's will for this robber to be breaking into homes and causing fear among the residents. I also knew that because it wasn't God's will that I had a promise in scripture that I could stand on, which was 1 John 5:14, "Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us." If we ask anything according to His will He hears us. Or if we I.D. or identify anything that is opposite of God's will, then we can pray against it, and God will hear us! In other words if you see a drug dealer selling drugs on a street corner and he's there day in and day out, you can pray against it, because it's not God's will. You don't have to get out of your car, and you don't have to take matters into your own hands. You can simply call out to God and say something like, "Father, I don't believe that what this drug dealer is doing here is Your will. And based on 1 John 5:14 You said if I pray anything according to Your will You hear me. Therefore, I pray against this activity in Jesus name, and ask that You Lord would change it, stop it and cause this drug dealing to stop!" That's exactly what my friend and I did with the burglary suspect, we didn't get out of our cars, we didn't physically intervene, but we called on the name of the Most High God! And we specifically asked God to intervene, to cause the robber to slip up somehow so the cops could make a lawful arrest. That was about 6:00 am in the morning when we prayed against that robber, and at about 4:00 pm that same afternoon he was arrested! It was like we had an arrest warrant from heaven for that suspect, and basically we did! And so do you! 1 John 5:14 is your arrest warrant for change! The only problem is not many Christians are using it. Our prayer lives are one of the most powerful assets we have as believers, yet we rarely use it, and if we do use prayer we certainly don't use it to it's full potential. Could you imagine what would happen to Cities like Detroit or Camden if we started crying out in prayer? Specifically crying out against the things that we've identified that are clearly NOT God's will? We'd see some change, and big time! In Luke 18 Jesus talks about a widow who went up against a high and lofty Judge. At first the Judge wouldn't even consider her, but Jesus went on to teach us that because of this woman's persistence the Judge not only considered her, but granted her request! However, the most powerful part of that whole story was when Jesus said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. 7 And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? 8 I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?” Luke 18:6-8 (NIV) "I tell you the truth, He will see that they get justice, and quickly." Identify, yes become an I.D. man or woman for the Lord! And then simply cry out to God day and night asking to reverse that thing you've identified that is clearly in opposition to God's will and watch what happens! You might not get the robber arrested in one day, but I guarantee you something powerful and something exciting will certainly happen! And that something is going to be God's will done on earth, as it is in heaven! And that's your arrest warrant for change! God bless you! Chris Einwechter God Taught Me Ministries GodTaughtMe.com
